Daniel K. Inouye Solar Telescope

Built on the summit of Haleakala, this new large aprature telescope for the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy primary focus will be to advance knowledge of the Sun, both as an astronomical object and as the dominant external influence on Earth, by providing forefront observational opportunities to the research community. Sprayed polyurethane foam was specified for its superior insulating qualtites to keep the strucutre thermally stable becuase of the high sensitivity of the imaging equipment contained within the dome.
